For the first time, Old Post Office is hosting a live, scripted murder mystery performance inside our restored 1914 building. Picture a room full of guests in 1930s attire, live jazz drifting through the air, and a story that pulls everyone into it rather than letting them just watch from the sidelines.
This is not a scavenger hunt or a quiet parlor game. It is a full performance, staged right in our main ballroom, with characters weaving through the crowd and clues to gather, characters to meet, and a story that invites guests to take part. Guests spend the evening piecing together what really happened, all while enjoying craft cocktails and the kind of atmosphere that only a building that is more than a century old can offer.

Our historic building has held more than a century of stories inside its walls, and now it is hosting an original interactive mystery inspired by the 1930s aviation boom. This is our first time bringing a murder mystery performance to the venue, and we could not have picked a more fitting home for it. The show takes place in our main upstairs ballroom, a historic space known for its high ceilings, architectural character, and downtown Bainbridge setting.
The story behind the mystery
The performance is a scripted, interactive murder mystery set during the golden age of aviation. Guests are pulled into a world of rival airlines, hidden agendas, and a jazz soundtrack that sets the mood for the whole night. It is produced by an outside production company, and tickets are sold in advance through Eventbrite, where you will also find full event details.
Every guest becomes part of the story rather than a bystander. You gather clues, talk to characters, and try to piece together what really happened before the night is over. Live jazz plays throughout, giving the room the same kind of energy you would expect from a room with this much history in its walls.
Two shows, two different experiences
There are two performances on the night this event runs. The 6 p.m. show includes a buffet-style seated dinner along with the mystery, so you can eat while you work the case. The 9 p.m. show does not include dinner, which makes it a good fit if you want the story and the jazz without the full meal. Both shows are expected to run about two hours.
This event is intended for guests 21 and up, and it takes place through a third-party production rather than as a private rental. We do not currently book separate private murder mystery nights on our own. This is our first time hosting this type of performance, and Future murder mystery events may feature different themes as they are scheduled.
What guests wear to the mystery
Costumes are encouraged, and guests who dress in 1930s aviation attire are entitled to one free beer or house wine and entry into the Best Dressed Contest. It is a small touch, but it changes the whole feel of the room once people start showing up in period style. Half the fun is seeing what everyone else puts together.
